Elaine M. R. Gauthier

The theme in Elaine Gauthier's artwork reflects the realism of everyday life. She emphasizes the striking, geometric shaped shadows cast by ordinary objects, and sometimes exaggerates their values. A water-colorist for many years, she also works with Prismacolor (colored pencils).

Mrs. Gauthier received a Bachelor of Science degree in Art Education from the University of New Hampshire. She also received a Masters of Arts in Teaching degree with a Watercolor concentration from Rhode Island College. She has studied at the Rhode Island School of Design, the University of Rhode island, and Providence College. Mrs. Gauthier has taught art classes in the Smithfield School Department for many years at both the elementary level and at Smithfield High School.

Mrs.Gauthier has exhibited her artwork at the Rhode Island Watercolor Society, the Bannister Gallery, the Greenville Public Library, and she has a drawing as part of the permanent art collection of Hasbro Children's Hospital.

In addition to her artistic interests, Mra Gauthier enjoys athletics such as figure skating, in-line skating, swimming, running, and tennis. She is a member of a USTA team from Rally Point Racquet Club.

Mrs. Gauthier lives in Greenville with her family; husband Jack, producer/recording engineer/owner of Lakewest Recording Studio in West Greenwich, RI., and her two sons, Jake, a freshman at Smithfield High School, and Jesse, a seventh-grader at Gallagher Middle School.
