Elaine M. R.
Gauthier
The theme in Elaine Gauthier's artwork reflects the realism of
everyday life. She emphasizes the striking, geometric shaped shadows
cast by ordinary objects, and sometimes exaggerates their values. A
water-colorist for many years, she also works with Prismacolor
(colored pencils).
Mrs. Gauthier received a Bachelor of Science degree in Art
Education from the University of New Hampshire. She also received a
Masters of Arts in Teaching degree with a Watercolor concentration
from Rhode Island College. She has studied at the Rhode Island School
of Design, the University of Rhode island, and Providence College.
Mrs. Gauthier has taught art classes in the Smithfield School
Department for many years at both the elementary level and at
Smithfield High School.
Mrs.Gauthier has exhibited her artwork at the Rhode Island
Watercolor Society, the Bannister Gallery, the Greenville Public
Library, and she has a drawing as part of the permanent art
collection of Hasbro Children's Hospital.
In addition to her artistic interests, Mra Gauthier enjoys athletics
such as figure skating, in-line skating, swimming, running, and
tennis. She is a member of a USTA team from Rally Point Racquet
Club.
Mrs. Gauthier lives in Greenville with her family; husband Jack,
producer/recording engineer/owner of Lakewest Recording Studio in
West Greenwich, RI., and her two sons, Jake, a freshman at Smithfield
High School, and Jesse, a seventh-grader at Gallagher Middle
School.
