"One Starry Night"
Student Paintings February 2005

This art work was created in a class taught at the library on Wednesdays by artist and teacher Adele Karbowski.

The process the students used combined writing and art namely poetry and watercolor. The students learned how words can relate to a design or an image. First they created a list of "power" words. They connected these words, making sentences, adding and rewriting to create a rhythm. The students then painted in a wet on wet watercolor technique using plastic wrap to create lines and textures.  The final poem was written over the watercolor using metallic markers and incorporating the words into the design. The results were amazing!
