"One Starry
Night"
Student Paintings February 2005
This art work was created in a
class taught at the library on Wednesdays by artist and teacher Adele
Karbowski.
The process the students used
combined writing and art namely poetry and watercolor. The students
learned how words can relate to a design or an image. First they
created a list of "power" words. They connected these words, making
sentences, adding and rewriting to create a rhythm. The students then
painted in a wet on wet watercolor technique using plastic wrap to
create lines and textures. The final poem was written over the
watercolor using metallic markers and incorporating the words into
the design. The results were amazing!
Adele is an artist and
teacher. She has a masters in Art Education. You can contact her
