Summer Reading Program ~ 2014
Crafts
The Summer Reading Program will be ending on Saturday, August 9th. To qualify for one of the Grand Prize Drawing prizes, you must have turned in your completed reading slips by the end of that day. The winner will be chosen by a random drawing of all the eligible entries and announced on August 18th.

The Baker Room was only open this summer on six Wednesday afternoons. On those days we played Minecraft on all of the machines in the room. There is one week left of Summer Minecraft (Aug 6th). Sign up is online for this program. The hours will be from 2:30-4:30. Anyone 11-17 or grade 6-12 may attend. Don't worry if you have to miss this one, we will be playing Minecraft in the Baker Room every Friday during the school year.

We are taking the month of August off for our LEGO Event. Greenville teens plan the event for children ages 5 1/2-11. Email Rhonda at yourYAlibrarian@yahoo.com if you are interested in helping to plan the event when it resumes in September.

The Rhode Island Computer Museum will present a free Workshop called "Robots on the Run." The workshop aims to explain basic circuits and instructions on how to build a simple robot. You will learn instructions for making sounds, making lights blink, motors run, and a lot more. We'll take time to learn about interactive software titled "Arduino" and you can create your own sample "Robot."

The Baker AfterSchool Center will be open on the first day of school (from 2:00-5:30) and every afternoon when school is in session for the school year. This year our opening day is on Tuesday, August 26th. We have computers, tables to work on for projects and homework, and a librarian to assist you. If you need a break from school work there will also be special days that will include crafts, games, cooking, and new this year, ÅgMinecraft FridaysÅh. Updates will be posted on our FaceBook page at Greenville Public Library TeenScape. It is available for anyone in grades 6-12 and no sign up is necessary!
